 Real Madrid suffered a 1-2 defeat to host Real Betis on Saturday at Benito Villamarín Stadium during the 26th round of La Liga.


Ibrahim Díaz opened the scoring for Real Madrid in the 10th minute, while Betis’ Johnny Cardoso and Isco netted in the 34th and 54th minutes, respectively.





With this loss, Real Madrid remains on 54 points, holding onto second place in the league standings, while Real Betis moved up to 38 points, securing sixth position.


The match kicked off with an early surge from the visitors, and Díaz found the net in the 10th minute, finishing a pass from Ferland Mendy with ease.


In the 20th minute, Betis' Rodríguez launched a powerful shot that sailed over Courtois' goal.


Real Betis equalized in the 34th minute as Cardoso scored a header from an Isco corner on the right side.


In the second half, Betis was awarded a penalty after Antonio Rüdiger fouled Jesús Rodríguez, and Isco converted from the spot in the 54th minute to put Betis ahead.


Rodrygo Goes of Real Madrid appealed for a penalty just a minute later after a collision with Rodríguez, but the referee allowed play to continue.


Betis also appealed for a penalty in the 63rd minute following a challenge between Aurélien Tchouaméni and Ricardo Rodríguez, but no penalty was given.


Vinícius Júnior delivered a cross into the Betis box in the 79th minute, where Endrick had a chance but shot wide of Courtois' right post.


Real Madrid pushed for an equalizer in the final moments but were unable to find the back of the net, losing vital points in the race for the title with Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.
