Dani Carvajal Provides an Update on His ACL Injury and Sets a Target Date for His Return

Spanish international and Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal has shared the latest update regarding his recovery from a serious injury that sidelined him earlier this season. The veteran defender suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in October last year during a La Liga match against Villarreal. This type of injury is known to be one of the most challenging and time-consuming for athletes, often requiring several months of rehabilitation and physical therapy.

Carvajal, who has been a key figure in Real Madrid’s defensive line for years, opened up about his recovery process and his goals for the coming months in an interview broadcast on the popular Spanish sports show "El Chiringuito." In his statement, he expressed optimism and determination to return to action sooner rather than later.

"Things are going well," Carvajal stated. "The challenge I’ve set for myself is to be back by the end of May. There’s still work to do, but let’s see if we can make it happen."

This news comes as a relief to Real Madrid fans who have been eagerly awaiting updates on the defender’s condition. Carvajal has already started light physical activities as part of his rehabilitation, including walking on the training pitch with football boots on. He described this step as a significant milestone in his journey back to full fitness.

“I’m currently walking on the grass in my boots and beginning to feel like a return is within reach,” he said. “When I first started doing light individual exercises, I never imagined I’d feel this good this early. It’s given me hope and motivation.”

The 32-year-old also highlighted the psychological challenges that come with a long-term injury, noting how difficult it was to accept the initial diagnosis. However, he credited the club’s medical staff, coaches, teammates, and fans for helping him stay positive throughout the process.

“Recovering from an ACL injury is not just a physical battle—it’s a mental one, too,” Carvajal admitted. “I’m grateful for all the support I’ve received. It’s helped me stay focused and determined to come back stronger.”

Looking ahead, Carvajal revealed that he is setting his sights on participating in the upcoming 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States in June. The tournament, which is being held in an expanded format for the first time, will feature top clubs from around the globe.

“My goal is to be available for Real Madrid’s first match in the Club World Cup,” he said. “That’s a big objective for me, and I’m doing everything I can to make it happen.”

Real Madrid will compete in Group H of the tournament alongside Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, Mexico’s Pachuca, and Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg. Carvajal’s return could prove crucial, especially given the level of competition and the importance of the tournament.

As the countdown to the summer continues, Real Madrid supporters will be hoping that Carvajal completes his recovery on schedule and reclaims his place in the starting lineup, helping the team in their pursuit of more international glory.
