Hansi Flick Reacts to Crucial 1-0 Victory Over Leganés: “It’s the Wins That Matter Most”

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has spoken out following his team’s narrow but significant 1-0 win over Leganés in the 31st round of the Spanish La Liga. The match, played under high tension, saw the Catalan giants secure three valuable points to solidify their position at the top of the table. Although the performance may not have been their most convincing, Flick emphasized the importance of getting results at this crucial stage of the season.

In his post-match remarks to Spanish newspaper AS, Flick acknowledged the difficulty of the game: “It was a tough match, but in the end, it’s the victories that matter. What we’ve been doing over the past few months is incredible. The players are showing great consistency and determination, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made.”

Flick went on to praise his team’s collective effort and stressed that success in football is rarely about individual brilliance alone. When asked specifically about Brazilian winger Raphinha and whether his attacking or defensive contributions stood out more, Flick provided a broader perspective. “Winning doesn’t depend on just one thing,” he explained. “It’s the collective commitment that really matters. Every player on this team has a role, whether it’s attacking or defending. What I appreciate most is how every one of them is stepping up and doing their part. That’s how you win matches like these.”

The match wasn’t without setbacks. One of the concerning moments came in the first half when young left-back Alejandro Balde was forced off due to injury. Providing an update, Flick said: “I can’t confirm his status right now — we’ll have to wait for the medical team’s evaluation and the test results. He felt something, and we didn’t want to take any risks. As for Eric García, he’s fine and available.”

Another notable moment came after the match when rising star Lamine Yamal shared that he had trouble controlling the ball during the game due to pitch conditions or ball quality. Flick downplayed the concern and shifted the focus back to the result. “I spoke with Lamine in the dressing room,” the German coach revealed. “It doesn’t really matter how the game was played — what matters is that we came out with three points. These matches are often decided by small moments, and we made ours count.”

Flick also made a point to highlight Eric García’s value to the squad, praising his versatility and professionalism. “Eric can play in any defensive position at the highest level,” Flick noted. “Having a player like him is a real asset for the team, especially when we’re dealing with injuries or need tactical flexibility.”

The result sees Barcelona extend their lead at the top of La Liga to 70 points, keeping them firmly in contention for the title. Meanwhile, Leganés remain in serious danger of relegation, stuck at 28 points and sitting in the penultimate position on the league table.

As the season nears its conclusion, every point becomes more crucial, and Flick’s words echo the mentality that Barcelona will need to maintain if they are to finish the season as champions.
