A new report from Brazil has reignited speculation surrounding the future of Real Madrid’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, linking him once again to the Brazilian national team job. According to a recent report published by the Brazilian media outlet Globo, the Italian tactician has returned to the radar of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which is currently in search of a new head coach ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Brazilian national team initially pursued Ancelotti after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where former coach Tite stepped down following Brazil’s disappointing exit. At the time, there were strong rumors suggesting that Ancelotti was a top candidate to lead the Seleção, and discussions reportedly took place between both parties. However, those talks did not result in an agreement, largely due to Ancelotti's decision to renew his contract with Real Madrid, showing his commitment to the Spanish club.

Despite that, recent events have once again opened the door for a potential move. According to Globo, Real Madrid’s recent struggles — including a defeat to Arsenal in a midweek fixture and a 2-1 loss to Valencia in La Liga — have cast doubts over Ancelotti’s future at the Santiago Bernabéu. These disappointing results have reportedly encouraged officials at the CBF, who believe that a managerial change could be imminent, creating a new opportunity to bring Ancelotti to Brazil.

Sources close to the Brazilian federation suggest that the outcome of the upcoming Copa del Rey final between Real Madrid and Barcelona could be decisive. Should Madrid fail to win the trophy, it could significantly impact Ancelotti’s standing with the club’s board and increase the chances of his departure. The CBF is said to be monitoring the situation very closely and is prepared to act swiftly should Ancelotti become available.

While Ancelotti remains the top choice, the report also highlights that Brazil has already started considering alternative options in case the Italian decides to stay in Spain. Among the leading backup candidates are Jorge Jesus, currently managing Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia, and Abel Ferreira, the Portuguese coach of Palmeiras in Brazil. Both coaches have achieved impressive success in recent years and are viewed as strong contenders to take the helm of the five-time world champions.

This renewed interest in Ancelotti comes after the Brazilian national team recently parted ways with coach Dorival Júnior. Dorival was dismissed following a humiliating 4-0 loss to arch-rivals Argentina during the latest international break. The defeat not only raised serious concerns about the team’s direction but also intensified the urgency to find an experienced and internationally respected figure to lead Brazil into the next World Cup cycle.

In summary, Carlo Ancelotti’s future remains uncertain, and while he is still under contract with Real Madrid, the combination of poor recent results and growing interest from the Brazilian national team may soon lead to a dramatic change. All eyes will now be on the Copa del Rey final, which could ultimately determine whether the Italian legend makes the leap from club football in Europe to the biggest stage in international football with Brazil.
