Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah, the talented winger of Liverpool FC, has expressed immense joy following his team’s dramatic and hard-fought 2-1 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League. Salah also shared his excitement about renewing his contract with the club, which he hopes will inspire others, like teammate Virgil van Dijk, to do the same.

The match, played on Sunday at Anfield as part of Matchday 32 of the Premier League season, proved to be an intense and emotional contest. Liverpool took an early lead and seemed to have things under control, but the game took a turn in the final minutes. Salah was substituted off the field in the 85th minute, and surprisingly, within just a minute of his exit, West Ham managed to equalize. The situation created a tense atmosphere at Anfield, with fans and players alike feeling the pressure. However, Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk rose to the occasion, scoring a crucial header in the 89th minute that ultimately sealed the win for Liverpool.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle, Salah reflected on the rollercoaster of emotions during the game. “It’s actually more stressful being on the bench than on the pitch,” Salah admitted with a smile. “When you’re watching from the sidelines, you feel nervous because you can’t do anything to help directly. But in the end, I’m really happy that we managed to get the win.”

Salah was quick to acknowledge the quality of the opposition, praising West Ham for their tactical setup and second-half performance. “They are a good team, and they came with a solid plan. I think they were better in the second half, and they deserved the goal they scored. But the most important thing for us was to get the three points, and I think we showed strong character in the final minutes to come back and win.”

The Egyptian star also opened up about his contract renewal with Liverpool, expressing satisfaction that the deal was concluded before the season’s end. “I’m really happy that we were able to finalize my new contract before the season finishes,” Salah said. “It gives me peace of mind and lets me focus fully on football. I also hope that Virgil van Dijk feels the same way soon. Of course, he can make his own decisions, but I would love to see him continue with us next season.”

When asked about Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season, Salah didn’t hold back. “Yes, I believe we can say that now,” he said confidently. “The last time we won the title was during the COVID lockdown period, so the experience wasn’t the same. This time, we want to enjoy the full experience with the fans and make it special. We’re close now, but we still have to stay focused and take it one game at a time.”

With the victory, Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table. They now have 76 points, putting them 13 points ahead of second-place Arsenal. With only a handful of matches remaining, Liverpool appears to be in a commanding position to secure the league title, marking what could be another memorable chapter in the club’s illustrious history.
